About

I am a mom of a three year old boy who is suffering  from eczema (atopic dermatitis) since he was three months old. We tried and are still trying almost everything to help him,  however we try to avoid cortico-steroids as much as possible. On this blog I want to discuss  the treatments, facts I learned, and anything that could be helpful in fighting eczema. Every parent of a child with eczema knows how frustrating and daunting it can be to helplessly watch as your child is trying to tear off his skin. I am writing this blog to give me the feeling of at least doing something and to keep track of what we do and to share what we know and learn.

PS: I want to emphasize, that I am not a medical expert in any way. Although I am doing my best to provide correct and useful information, I am only a mom after all trying to understand this very complex and complicated disease.

PPS: Occasionally I talk on this blog about the products (creams, cloths, medications, etc.) we use. But this are no payed advertisements. None of the companies producing any of the products mentioned in any of the posts have any idea who I am and I receive no compensation for mentioning or linking to any of the products. I am simply sharing my experience. To some posts I might add this disclaimer at the end. To some I don’t, but it’s all the same.

  1. I just wanted to say you are doing a fantastic job!!!
I suffer from eczema since I was a baby. My mum was so down to earth not to apply all those cortico-steroids the doctor did prescribe. I was scratching till I bleed. My mum was using acupuncture as an alternative for cortico-steroids and it helped. However from 18 years old till last summer my hands got so bad that I am literally lost, and I mean it. Doctors never discovered what I was allergic for or had an allergic reaction, until one day I did private food intolerances/allergy test. I share it with you, because I tried literally everything. I am not a doctor so I have not idea if the test can be done with kid as well, but it might help.

After I received my results it turned out that I have to eliminate the most basic food of all, wheat, milk, eggs, grapes, onions, carrots…ect.

I was on strict diet for 6 months and then eczema start to disappear. Now I baraely can remember the time was bad it was.

Thanks for visiting my blog and charing your story! It is great that you managed to get over eczema with the help of some allergy testing and a strict diet. We had J. tested when he was 1/2 and 1 1/2, but without any clear results. Maybe he was still too young then. We will discuss another testing with the specialist we are going to see in a few weeks. And I will look into the test you are recommending – may be this is also an option.

  2. I just recommended it because I had all the allergy test done in the hospitals and they never worked so I though it might help you somehow.

    All the best!
